Description
Two hundred and fifty milligrams of extract in a one ounce bottle of broad spectrum CBD oil for cats, chicken flavoured, which works out at roughly 8 mg per full millilitre dropper. Delta-9 reads non detect on the batch report, which is the reason the broad spectrum input is used on this product rather than the cheaper full spectrum one. The dropper is graduated in small increments because a cat is a small animal.
What is in a bottle of broad spectrum cbd oil for cats
Milligrams per bottle and milligrams per millilitre, both printed, plus a named flavour base and a named carrier. The second figure is the one that matters once the dropper is in your hand.
- Broad spectrum CBD oil for cats: 250 mg of extract per bottle
- Volume: 1 fl oz, 30 mL. Strength: about 8 mg per 1 mL
- Per quarter dropper: about 2 mg
- Flavour: chicken. Carrier: MCT oil
- Spectrum: broad spectrum, delta-9 non detect on the certificate
- Price: $26 a bottle, with the price per milligram printed under it
Why a broad spectrum cbd oil for cats is this dilute
Because the market divides pet products by animal weight and a cat sits at the bottom of that range. Bottles in the pet range run from small ones like this up to 1,500 mg for large dogs, and the extract inside is the same material at a different dilution. Two hundred and fifty milligrams in 30 mL is a deliberately dilute oil, which means the graduations on the pipette correspond to amounts small enough to be useful. A 1,500 mg bottle measured to the same graduation would deliver six times as much per line, which is the practical argument for buying a broad spectrum CBD oil for cats rather than decanting a dog bottle.
Reading the dropper
Eight milligrams per millilitre means a quarter dropper is about 2 mg and a half is about 4, which are figures small enough to be meaningful for an animal of a few kilos. The pipette is marked at quarter increments, though graduations vary between suppliers, so check the lines on your own bottle against the millilitre figure on the label rather than assuming. A broad spectrum CBD oil for cats is also easier to administer than a chew, because it can go onto food rather than being presented as a treat to something that has already decided against treats.
Flavour, and the problem a broad spectrum CBD oil for cats has to solve
Cats refuse things. A chicken base is there because a plain MCT oil is rejected more often than not, and the flavour is listed as chicken rather than described as something a cat will love. Flavour bases across this range are named individually, salmon, chicken, peanut butter or unflavoured, because an animal that will not take one may take another. The full ingredient list is on the bottle, including the base protein and any preservative, and no xylitol appears in anything on the pet page.
Testing, on the same panel as the human range
Every lot of broad spectrum CBD oil for cats is assayed by a laboratory with no ownership connection to this company, for cannabinoid content, pesticides, heavy metals and microbials. It is not a reduced panel because the customer has fur. Under potency lots are withdrawn from sale and their certificates stay on the public results page alongside the passing ones, which is explained in why we publish the batch that failed. The non detect delta-9 line is on the same sheet as the potency figure.
What the feline literature actually contains
Less than the canine literature, and that is worth knowing before buying anything. Published pharmacokinetic work in cats has given cannabidiol orally at roughly 2 mg per kilogram of body weight and reported that cats absorb it differently from dogs, with lower and more variable blood levels and more frequent head shaking and lip licking after dosing. There is very little controlled outcome data in the species at all. Those are descriptions of published studies and the doses they used rather than claims about this bottle, and the indexed papers are at the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
Nothing here is a medicine and we make no claim about what it does for an animal. Speak to your veterinarian first, particularly if your cat already takes prescribed medication. The certificate for the lot currently shipping is linked on this page and filed by batch number.
