Description
One gram of CBN isolate powder at 95 percent purity, so about 950 mg of cannabinol in the jar. This is the scarcest isolate in the catalogue and the most expensive per milligram, and the two facts are the same fact. It comes as an off white crystalline powder, sold by weight as a raw material rather than portioned into anything, with the batch code on the lid.
What is in a jar of cbn isolate powder
A single compound, an assay percentage and a weight, with the certificate turning the percentage into milligrams.
- CBN isolate powder: 1 g at 95 percent purity, about 950 mg of cannabinol
- Form: crystalline powder, off white, no flavour
- Delta-9: non detect on the certificate
- Packaging: sealed jar, batch code on the lid
- Sold as: bulk material by weight, not portioned
- Price: $44 a jar, with the price per milligram printed under it
Why cbn isolate powder is the dearest thing on this shelf
Cannabinol is not something hemp makes in quantity. It forms as delta-9 oxidises, which means it accumulates in aged or degraded material rather than in fresh flower, so producing it at scale means either working with low grade biomass or converting a precursor deliberately. Forty four dollars for 950 mg is a little over four and a half cents a milligram, against roughly half a cent for cannabidiol isolate of the same grade in the bulk and isolate range. That is an order of magnitude, and it is chemistry rather than a quality tier.
The two lines to read on the certificate
The first is the cannabinol assay against the stated 95 percent. The second is delta-9, and it matters more here than on any other isolate, because cannabinol is a delta-9 degradation product and a careless input can bring unconverted delta-9 through with it. Ours reads non detect. Every lot of CBN isolate powder is assayed by an independent laboratory for the full cannabinoid profile, residual solvents in parts per million, heavy metals, pesticides and microbials, and lots under their stated purity are withdrawn with the failing certificate left published. Reading the panel is covered in how to read a certificate of analysis.
What it is bought for
Formulating, almost entirely. CBN isolate powder goes into oils, gummies and softgels made by somebody else, and the people buying a single gram are usually testing a formulation before committing to a larger order. It has no flavour to work around and no colour to account for, which makes it easier to work with than a distillate at the cost of everything the distillate carries alongside the target compound. There is no established serving for it and this page does not suggest one.
Weighing a gram of cbn isolate powder
A scale that reads to a hundredth of a gram is the minimum, and a milligram scale is better. Volume measures are useless with a powder this fine: the difference between a level and a heaped spoon is larger than most of the amounts anyone is working to, and at four and a half cents a milligram that error has a price. CBN isolate powder dissolves into oils and fats and not into water, which decides what it can be made into. Nothing on this page suggests a quantity, because material sold by weight is not a serving.
What the published record on cannabinol holds
Very little, and most of it old. The human studies people cite are from the 1970s and 1980s, were small, and gave cannabinol alone or alongside delta-9 at doses in the tens of milligrams. Almost everything published since has been in vitro or in animals. A handful of recent trials have used 20 to 160 mg in humans, sometimes with cannabidiol, and they have not settled anything. There is no established human dose range and no approved medicine containing it. That is a description of a thin literature and its doses rather than a claim about this powder, and the abstract record is held at the National Institutes of Health.
Keep it sealed, cool, dry and out of the light, since cannabinol is itself an oxidation product and will keep going. The certificate for the current lot is linked on this page.
