Description

Three ounces of CBD roll on gel with 1,500 mg of broad spectrum extract in it, dispensed through a stainless steel ball. The base is water rather than wax or oil, which is the reason it does not leave a film and the reason it needs a preservative system, and that system is named in full on the label rather than hidden behind the word natural.

A cbd roll on gel states potency two ways

Total milligrams and milligrams per gram. The second one is what reaches skin and almost nobody prints it.

  • CBD roll on gel: 1,500 mg of broad spectrum extract per bottle
  • Volume: 3 fl oz, about 89 mL. Concentration: roughly 17 mg per gram
  • Base: water phase gel with a declared preservative system
  • Applicator: stainless steel rolling ball
  • Spectrum: broad spectrum, THC non detect on the certificate
  • Price: $40, with the price per milligram printed under it

Why a roll on rather than a tin

Your hands stay clean and the dose lands where you aimed it, which is the entire argument. The trade is that a rolling ball puts down a thinner film than a finger does, so the same 17 mg per gram goes further and covers less. A CBD roll on gel also runs cooler than a balm because water evaporates, and some people read that as the product doing something; it is evaporation. The topical range prints concentration on every listing so a roll on and a jar can be compared on the number that matters.

What is in the base

A water based gel is mostly water, a gelling polymer, a humectant and a preservative system, and it will grow things if that last part is skipped. There is no menthol in this one, which separates it from the freeze roll on elsewhere in the range; where menthol, camphor or arnica do appear they are cosmetic ingredients and we describe them as nothing more than that. Alcohol is not in this formula either, so it does not sting on broken skin, though it is not meant for broken skin.

The applicator, and what it costs you

A stainless ball housing is more expensive to make than a flip cap and it is the part that fails, usually by seizing when gel dries around the seat. Rinsing the ball under a tap once a week fixes that permanently. A CBD roll on gel also meters itself: one pass is roughly a tenth of a gram, so a three ounce bottle is a long way from empty even after a month of daily use, and the per milligram price is what to compare against a tin rather than the sticker.

Testing

Every batch of this CBD roll on gel is assayed by an independent laboratory for cannabinoid content, heavy metals, pesticides and microbials. On a water containing product the microbial panel is the realistic failure mode rather than potency, and it is the one to read first. Broad spectrum means the delta-9 line reads non detect. Under potency batches are withdrawn from sale and the failing certificate stays on the public results page, for the reason set out in why we publish the batch that failed.

What the published literature measures

Concentration and vehicle, in a small number of studies. Human work on cannabidiol applied to skin usually describes a gel or cream at a stated milligram per gram strength on a defined area, and one frequently cited trial used a transdermal gel at 250 mg per 100 mL. Most of the mechanistic work is in rodent models or cell culture. Skin is a barrier organ and how much of anything crosses it depends heavily on the formulation, so numbers do not carry across from one product to another. That describes the literature, not this bottle, and the papers are indexed at the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

External use only, and patch test a small area first. Store it upright, because a loose ball housing will leak a water gel faster than it leaks a balm. The certificate for the bottle of CBD roll on gel currently shipping is linked here and filed by batch number.
