Topicals

Topicals: balms, creams, salves, roll-ons and massage oil, for use on skin. Potency is given two ways, total milligrams per jar and milligrams per gram, since a 500 mg two-ounce tin is twice as concentrated as a 500 mg four-ounce tub. Price per milligram sits under every price. Outside lab reports linked.

Concentration is the number to compare here, and almost nobody prints it. Total milligrams tell you what you paid for. Milligrams per gram tell you what is on your hands. A 1,000 mg jar in 60 grams works out to 16.7 mg per gram. The same 1,000 mg in 120 grams is 8.3. Both jars say 1,000 on the front.

Base ingredients drive texture and shelf life more than cannabinoid content does. Balms are wax and oil with no water, so they are thick and keep well. Creams are emulsions and need a preservative system, which is listed in full rather than hidden behind the word natural. Roll-ons are thinner, and alcohol based in some cases. Menthol, camphor and arnica appear in several formulas and are declared on the label; they are cosmetic ingredients and we describe them as nothing more than that.

Every batch is assayed by an independent laboratory with no ownership tie to us, for cannabinoid content and for heavy metals, pesticides and microbials. Under-potency means withdrawal from sale, and the certificate stays published on the lab results page.

External use only, which is what the packaging says. Patch-test a new base on a small area first, as you would with any unfamiliar skin product.
